Daivien Williamson returns to Wake Forest for final year of eligibility

Senior guard Daivien Williamson has announced he will be returning to Wake Forest for his final year of eligibility.

Last season, Williamson finished third on the team in scoring, averaging 11.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists in over 30 minutes per game. He was the team’s leading 3-point shooter, making 62 of 157 3-point attempts for just under 40%. He finished the regular season with one of the best games of his career, scoring a career-high 28 points on 11-14 shooting against NC State.

This is great news for the Demon Deacons as they bring back a veteran guard with a ton of experience and, of course, a fantastic 3-point shooter. Williamson has already played over 3,000 minutes of college basketball – all for Coach Forbes – so I’m confident in saying he’s seen it all at the college level and (hopefully) knows by this point exactly what his coach expects him. This experience will certainly be an invaluable resource to help new players get up to speed.

With this announcement, we’re just awaiting the decision of junior forward Jake LaRavia, who is in the NBA Draft. Looks like he’s doing pretty well.

With his draft stock on the rise, I think we probably saw him play his last game for the Deacs. Either way, he has until June 1 to opt out of the draft and return to Mother So Dear for another season.

Welcome to Daivien and Go Deacs!
