Friends and family mark transport blogger’s milestone birthday with Gedling bus banner

Friends and family of a Colwick woman celebrated for writing a humorous bus blog have launched a surprise banner for her birthday, which is now displayed on the side of her favorite mode of transport.

Jennie Wiseman has been a bus enthusiast for a few years and started a blog about her favorite bus service – Red 44 – a few years ago, much to the amusement of friends and family.

They say Jennie’s blog has always kept them entertained with fun posts and humorous updates – especially during Covid when there wasn’t much fun to be had.

The hashtag #buseswithjen, made popular on the blog, is featured on the anniversary banner.

Friends and family say Wiseman has no knowledge of the birthday surprise which worried his mother, Ruth, who said: ‘I just hope she notices it as she walks up and down her beloved bus”.

Elaine Flegg works with Jennie at Windblowers music store on Derby Road in the city center says she still enjoys reading the blog.

She said: “Buseswithjen is hilarious, affectionate and familiar to all fellow travellers.”

And she’s not the only one who thinks it’s an appropriate gift – school friend Nikki Murphy added: “Jen has always been a fan of an easy jumper; it’s a very fitting way to celebrate her milestone birthday.

“I hope she likes it as much as we all do”

The bus banner hit the road on Monday (August 29) and will be on display for two weeks.
