Nicki Minaj Lost before long, he filed a $75,000 defamation lawsuit against a blogger who called her a “cokehead” and said the rapper was known to “shove” cocaine up her nose.
In the new complaint obtained by rolling stoneMinaj says Marley Green, a gossip blogger who goes by the name Nosy Heaux, “falsely and maliciously” called her a drug addict in a Twitter video posted Monday that “outrageously defamed” her and sparked a “storm of Watch out on social media.”
“[Minaj is] shoving all that cocaine, shoving all that cocaine up his nose. Allegedly. Thanks. Allegedly. But we all know it’s true. Fuck – look, I can’t even say supposedly with this because I – we know it’s true. I’m not saying allegedly on that. Nicki Minaj is a cokehead,” Green says in an excerpt from the video cited in the lawsuit.
The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in federal court in New York, says Green also posted “despicable comments” about Minaj’s one-year-old son. Those statements were not actionable, but Minaj says they show Green’s “fundamental lack of decency” and should be considered as the rapper seeks punitive damages.
“Green’s video statement was false because the plaintiff never used cocaine,” Minaj’s lawsuit states.
“In another time, Green’s lie would have made no sense because she is the ultimate ‘person’…a person whose major accomplishments in life have been a series of criminal charges, bail and bad debts. But this is the age of social media, an age in which ‘no one’ can find an undeserved following through relentless self-promotion,” the document asserts.
Attempts to reach Green were not immediately successful, but she responded to the lawsuit in a series of social media posts. In a post shared on Wednesday, she vowed to counter-sue.
“Nicki Minaj has been mad for several days now. She threatened me, sent her barbz to harass me and threaten me with death, now doxxing me. She went too far and I am definitely suing her. #Survivingthepettys“Green tweeted overnight.
‘Marley Green is a disgrace – someone so lacking in basic decency that she posted despicable comments about Nicki’s one-year-old son. When this matter is over, she will no longer be allowed to use the name’ Nosy Heaux” because we will take her tag off when she doesn’t have enough money to pay the judgment. Anyone else who spreads lies about Nicki will meet the same fate. My marching orders are to aggressively pursue anyone tracked by a media outlet or social network that hurts her with intentional lies. Eventually, the lesson will be learned,” Minaj’s attorney, Judd Burstein, said in a statement sent to rolling stone.
Minaj’s lawsuit comes after fellow rapper Cardi B successfully sued gossip blogger Tasha K, whose real name is Latasha Kebe, over defamatory allegations that Cardi had herpes, used cocaine and worked as a prostitute.
In that case, a jury in federal court in Georgia awarded Cardi more than $4 million in damages. Kebe is appealing the verdict.
