Ghanaian blogger Kobby Kyei says Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy and Sarkodie need to strengthen their PR teams.
In an interview with Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz, Kobby Kyei answered Stonebwoy’s call for help following his new contract with DefJam Records.
According to Stonebwoy, the likes of him, Sarkodie and Shatta Wale would have been global brands to this day, if the Ghanaians had retained significant moments.
He pointed out that his major achievements and those of his colleagues are not celebrated enough.
However, Kobby Kyei believes some of the problems arise because these artists in question do not have strong PR teams to let the public know about the accomplishments Stonebwoy has been talking about.
“Our Ghanaian artists don’t pay attention to PR. When you mention Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy, they have websites where you can get all the information they need that you know about them.
“How many Ghanaian artists have always-updated websites? They don’t take some of these things seriously. Even getting the information from them to feed their fan base is a struggle. I think they (Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale and Sarkodie) don’t have strong PR teams,” he said.
Kobby Kyei, on the other hand, praised Stonebwoy for holding a well-organized press conference to brief the press on his deal with an American multinational record label owned by Universal Music Group DefJam Recordings.
Stonebwoy is an award-winning African artist who has put the continent firmly on the music map with international tours, outstanding collaborations and hugely popular singles since 2012.
He released his brand new single, Therapy, on May 3 via DefJam Recordings, backed by UMG labels worldwide.
