Travel blogger calls on airlines to ‘do more’ for tall passengers

A travel blogger thinks airlines should “do more” for tall people on their flights.

As reported by WalesOnline, Kirsty Leanne – who founded plussizetraveltoo – shares tips and tricks she’s learned on her documented trips abroad to help “tall girls navigate the world with confidence”. seats with more legroom.

However, Kirsty has now gone viral for calling out the travel industry and saying airlines need to do more to help tall people travel comfortably, reports the Daily Star. In a TikTok video, the 29-year-old showed off her flight from London Stansted Airport to Hamburg, Germany with Ryanair.

The video is captioned “Flying Ryanair with no upgrades” and has received nearly 2 million views

Kirsty then documents the legroom of her assigned seat before having to request a seatbelt extender. The travel blogger was sitting next to an empty seat, so she moved down the aisle.

However, she later showed that the set table was a “big big no” because she was stuck on her stomach and couldn’t sit completely flat. Kirsty then documented that bathrooms were ‘also off limits’ and she didn’t use them because they were too small, so she waited until she got to the airport.

The influencer noted, “The door opened fully rather than halfway making it difficult to get in or out of the restroom.” In the comments, Kirsty added some additional context and said, “Wow okay. So this got way more views than I thought and I think people completely missed the point.

“I’m sharing my experience as a plus size person on Ryanair so others can see what it’s like but yeah…I think airlines should do more to be accessible to plus size people. It doesn’t doesn’t mean I blame them for being fat. It’s pretty simple.

Some viewers criticized the plus size blogger for her video. One person said, “That’s like saying my jeans are too small for me, it’s Levi’s fault for not making them bigger.”

While another added: ‘Just pay for seats with more legroom, it’s not that expensive than $6 more and much bigger seats.’ A third wrote: ‘Honey, it’s not the airline’s fault.

But, Kirsty maintains she was simply documenting the experience to show what flying is like for tall people. She said: “One of the reasons I did the Ryanair video was because I got a lot of requests asking me to do a video for a Ryanair flight which is known to have smaller seats etc. .

“I hadn’t paid for an extra seat, or a seat with more leg room or paid extra to choose my seat because I think we should all be able to travel on a budget and not have to pay extras. Also, if you pay for a seat with extra legroom near the emergency exits, you cannot have a seatbelt extender.”

Kirsty added that many people weren’t happy with her video, but she was just being honest about the experience, reports the Express and Star. She said, “If something is small, I’ll call it small, I’m not going to dress it up for anything else.” Airlines should do a lot more for plus size travelers.
