Alexa Chung announced the closure of her eponymous label and made the official announcement via her social media handle on Instagram on March 17, 2022.
The brand will shut down, but Barbour’s latest outerwear collaboration and current spring collection will continue to sell on the site at full price until March 31, 2022.
Chung herself made the decision and tried to cut her label in an orderly fashion. Sharing the grief with her 4.9 million followers, she captioned the post,
“I would like to share the news that for the past few months I have been phasing out the activities of ALEXACHUNG, the fashion line that I founded in 2017… The experience of creating and leading my own business has been rewarding and often joyful, but the past two years have been tough for small independent businesses and ours is no exception.”
She further explained to her fans that the decision was well thought out and expressed her gratitude to all the customers,
“The decision to close was not taken lightly, not least because I am so grateful for the passion and creativity that the ALEXACHUNG team brought with them every day and the trust that all people involved had in this business. I am so proud of the business that we have become Needless to say, my enthusiasm for fashion remains intact,” she added.
